Industrial Cyber reached out to cybersecurity experts to assess the current readiness of modern IACS installations in defending against cyber threats compared to a few years ago.
Jay Williams, CEO of Industrial Defender, said that ICS/OT environments continue to be a challenging arena. “Their assets are aged (20-30 years old at times), and they’re critical in nature, requiring continuous uptime (making patching and maintenance difficult). Additionally, the experts authorized to maintain these systems are few. Because of this, deploying any and all cybersecurity measures requires significant coordination and planning, and, most importantly, caution to avoid inadvertently taking down a mission-critical system and disrupting a continuous process.”
